USAM DC is seeking a Custom Millwork Engineer. The Custom Millwork Engineer works closely with the Engineering Manager, other Engineers, Project Managers, Shop Production Manager, and shop fabricators while managing these tasks: incorporates redlines and field dimensions while producing production ready drawings for the shop floor. This would include providing any CNC machining drawings as needed to release the work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carries out duties assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Communicates with Production and Project Management, follows-up with other team members on meeting deadlines and upcoming projects to work on, communicates with production shop on specific needs or issues on current work, gives advanced notice of any obstacles or dates that may be missed.
Works closely with the Operations and Engineering teams on conflict resolution to ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner.
Stays up to date with field conditions and updates drawings for fabrication accordingly.
Maintains an understanding of all the materials and hardware used to manufacture the approved scope of work.
Utilizes AutoCAD and Microvellum to prepare drawings for production release and release to subcontract vendor fabrication.
Ensure all work is reviewed prior to release.
Reviews sub-contractor drawings for submittals.
Helps team members with questions and issues.
Ability to correctly perform material take-offs for ordering/pulling inventory.
Other duties and projects assigned by Engineering Manager.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have any direct supervisor responsibilities. However, the position assists and guides other team members with questions and concerns.
Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Occasional Job site visits/field measuring may be required.
Preferred Education and Skills (in addition to the required):
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Wood Technology, Mechanical Engineer, or related field
5-10 years’ experience in architectural millwork, custom wood manufacturing, or a similar industry
Knowledge of Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) Standards
Familiarity with Microvellum Toolbox
Excellent AutoCAD millwork drafting skills.
Experience with CNC manufacturing
Experience with millwork production methods and fabrication techniques, and Materials.
Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Required Education and Skills:
High school diploma or GED
Min 5 years' experience architectural drafting/engineering
Able to read and interpret architectural drawings/blueprints
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including intermediate Excel skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Experience with millwork production methods and fabrication techniques
