Material Specialist is responsible for accurately reviewing drawings to produce detailed material takeoffs for millwork projects, ensuring all materials are accounted for and specified correctly. It involves coordinating with engineering, project management, and production teams to validate material needs, manage revisions, and resolve discrepancies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Record and track the status and completion of tasks provided by the Engineering Manager.
Communicate and collaborate with engineering, production, & procurement team members to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Review and interpret architectural and shop drawings to extract accurate material quantities using MV software & Ardis for casework, and manual takeoffs for custom items.
Generate detailed material takeoffs for millwork components (casework, panels, trim, hardware, etc.).
Identify wood species, finishes, core types, veneers, laminates, edge banding, and other relevant material attributes.
Coordinate with engineering/drafting teams to ensure consistency between drawings and material lists.
Maintain revision control to ensure only the latest drawings are used for takeoffs
Develop and maintain standardized templates or takeoff tools to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Attend project kick-off meetings and contribute to material planning strategies.
Carries out duties assigned by the Engineering Manager

Required Education and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Wood Technology, or related field highly preferred
2+ years’ experience drafting/drawing with AutoCAD and/or Microvellum
2+ years’ experience working in the architectural millwork industry
2+ years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, or project coordination
Knowledge of Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) Standards
Experience with millwork production methods and fabrication techniques
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including intermediate Excel skills
Experience with Ardis software preferred
Able to read and interpret architectural drawings/blueprints
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Experience with CNC manufacturing
Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
TRAVEL: For remote employees, occasional travel to onsite facility will be required as determined.
